#MedTwitter Board-certified physicians…As a group, would you be willing to stop enabling the ABIM extortion of physicians by denying them the annual certification fees they charge you for their “MOC”? #CardioTwitter Matthew Sample Westby Fisher, MD

And yet we hear no definitive plans from our societies for how to fix this. What are you doing with our dues SCAI American College of Cardiology? We deserve answers and support from you. We’re looking to you to come up with a way to combat this extortion from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Are you afraid of them?

Agree. Eventually, we’ll just need to vote with our feet and abandon the organizations that have left us out to dry. If SCAI (I’ve given up hope for the ever-conflicted American College of Cardiology) is indeed working on something to help, now would be the time to fill us in. Yet, more silence.

Andy O’Plasty, MD yep. me too. this seems to have evolved over time with the upside of “expanding teamwork,” the downside being the continued erosion of subspecialty physician uniqueness. We can be a bitchy, spoiled lot, for sure. But those stripes have been earned and must be defended.

Andy O’Plasty, MD Need to create a new organization for the docs only -mission and fight for things which actually matter: which American College of Cardiology does not do- return of autonomy, abolishing non-compete, inflation adjusted increase in reimbursement, protection from hostile employers/hospital/insurance.
