Excited to share that I have begun working as a Research Assistant Professor at School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at SBU Stony Brook University I have several new projects with support for MS and PhD students interested in marine animal #telemetry and #ecophysiology. Please reach out if you are interested!

It’s that time of year! Discussing recent #shark sightings with CNN’s Kim Brunhuber. As #sharkfest ends and #sharkweek begins, remember there is no such thing as shark-infested waters. That’s their home and you can’t infest your own home! cnn.com/videos/us/2023…

Just caught and released this shovelnose guitarfish off #SanDiego They are so beautifully weird! Point Loma Nazarene University Scripps Institution of Oceanography #sharkscience #sharkweek #flatsharkfriday

Aerial #drone footage of a leopard #shark aggregation off #SanDiego (4x speed). We are using the program TRex (by Tristan Walter and Iain Couzin) to track individual sharks, to study their movement patterns relative to their neighbors. A few close-ups of the beautiful leopard #shark we just caught and released off #SanDiego, including a parasite (that we removed). Point Loma Nazarene University Scripps Institution of Oceanography #sharkscience #sharkweek

This rolling behavior is common in #sharks, including leopards. They are rubbing their head, back, and sides on the sand, likely trying to dislodge ectoparasites, like these copepods. Cute baby leopard #shark alert off #LaJolla #SanDiego! Two-foot-long male. Point Loma Nazarene University Scripps Institution of Oceanography #sharkscience #babyshark for real

Tons of leopard #sharks and bat rays in only knee-deep water this morning off #LaJolla, the day before #HuricaneHilary due to roll into #SanDiego. Will be interesting to check on them again after the storm. Stay safe out there! Point Loma Nazarene University Scripps Institution of Oceanography #sharkscience

This was yesterday off #LaJolla, the morning after the remnants of #HuricaneHilary passed through #SanDiego. Clearly, the leopard #sharks were unfazed and the water was surprisingly clear. See the white flashes? Those are sharks rolling over! Point Loma Nazarene University Scripps Institution of Oceanography #sharkscience

Not as cool as #sharks, but also saw these #dolphins yesterday near Scripps Institution of Oceanography pier. They were beautiful to watch and it was a gorgeous day! #LaJolla #SanDiego
