I would love to start a band with a name that has impossibly bad SEO. Something like “Chinese Food Near Me” or “The United States of America”

What if Trump’s gains with minorities weren’t about Trump at all? Andrew Van Dam and I took a look at recent election results in NYC, Toronto and London and tried to figure out why we're seeing similar trends in all three cities

One of the three men killed in Philadelphia mass shooting overnight, Azir Harris, 24, shot multiple times in his back while in his wheelchair. Azir was paralyzed in a prior shooting when he was 17 years old & was advocating for gun violence survivors ever since.

I think this is a low key secret thing that hurts Democrats in politics. We're always calling to take away people's straws, light bulbs, e-cigarettes, shower heads, etc. We're the party of You Can't Have What You Want, and voters remember that and choose the other guys.

Breathitt County, Kentucky (pop. 14K, 95% white) is in the rural coal-mining region of Appalachia. Voted for every presidential Dem from 1912-2004, but Trump got 79% here. However, 78% of registered voters are Dems, and Beshear cleared 60% in 2023.

When I was at WhatsApp, I changed the ingredients in the paella 🥘 emoji to match my grandma's recipe. She’s no longer with us, but her paella will live (digitally) forever.

I would also say, family run businesses -- The move of a segment of Mexican immigrants firmly into small biz upper middle class is a large part of whats behind their GOP shift. That class, entrepreneurial big and small, has always been a base of theirs

I always find it funny when guys like Zohran Mamdani cry about people mispronouncing their name and turn it into a race thing. My last name is Koch. As you can imagine, this has made for some very unfortunate incidents in my life. I have laughed nearly every time.

🧵J'ai essayé de typologiser (par une analyse par clustering) le vote des cantons de la France hexagonale aux élections européennes de 2024. C'est un exercice probablement largement perfectible mais qui montre quelques résultats intéressants que je voulais partager ici.

This appears to have gone largely unreported by the media. John F. Miniclier, the last surviving American veteran from the Battle of Midway, passed away on May 24 at the age of 103. Another World War II soldier fades into history. Thank you for your service. RIP.

Moderns don’t have the conviction needed for this level of work & self-giving to their community. “… each member of the church who was 12 or older was asked to give $45, haul six wagon loads of Fencepost limestone and four loads of sand each year until the church was built …”

On this day in 1776, in the heart of Philly, the Declaration of Independence was read aloud for the first time. The bells rang, freedom echoed — and a new nation was born. Pretty cool that it all started right here in Pennsylvania.
