Just wanted to share an old photo of a group of small bichirs/polypterus I had that displayed external gills. All bichirs have external gills at some point as babies. Some lose it earlier than others.

Just found myself a big sized albino Polypterus senegalus! 28 cm! Rarely see them this big since they are generally quite inbred and generally don’t grow too big. I’ll be moving it in with the senegal squad in a few days. 😁
