The huge peaceful protests over Gaza are not a threat to our democracy. They're a key part of it. Their call for a Ceasefire Now is backed by 71% of the public. Rishi Sunak's desperate attacks on the protests are simply because his Government knows it has lost the argument.

I don’t want tax cuts. I want the ambulance to arrive. I want good schools, public transport and town centres. I want investment in jobs, education and people. An extra tenner a week is no good to me when society is falling to bits.

Not enough people are talking about Birmingham having 100% of its arts funding axed by 2026. In two years the UK’s second city will contribute NOTHING towards its arts. This is fucked. Why is it not front page news? Would we see such negligence in Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol?
