Great Kidney International commentary by Drs. Madhavan and Schlondorff APOL1 p.N264K variant may not be as "low risk" as previously thought. Important when screening patients and understanding the role of APOL1 and kidney disease outcomes! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38750901/ #apol1 #renalgenetics

First off, we should ackowledge the obvious: Lactated ringers does in fact contain lactate... 28 mEq/L in fact BUT there's one little detail to remember: Lactate ≠ Lactic acid When we measure "lactate" we care about the ACID (H+) which lowers pH & causes organ dysfunction 2/

An attempt at a Roger Rodby like number crunching. Imagine a teaspoon of a substance that contains only H+ ions and has the density of salt. Divide that into 60 parts first.Divide one portion of it into 2.5 million equal parts. Now, you have 150 millionth of a teaspoon of H+ ions

Haha I found it. I remembered it backwards, though. The cabbage knee cure came first. And the Germans were like "hang on this seems ridiculous we need to do a study." And then they came back like "Oh nein! Du hattest Recht!" nutritionfacts.org/blog/cabbage-l…
