While the UN arms embargo has not been a panacea, the human rights situation would almost certainly be worse without it. Now is not the time to lift the embargo & add weapons into the fray. We urge the Security Council to renew the embargo, enforce it & protect civilian lives.

Sexual violence is widespread in the Sudan conflict. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have systematically attacked women and girls across the country. The world is failing to protect civilians, provide sufficient humanitarian aid or hold perpetrators accountable for these crimes.

It’s time for people and governments around the world to establish the truth of what is happening in Sudan, bring suspected perpetrators to justice and provide comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care and reparations to survivors. We must keep #EyesOnSudan.

Mahmoud Khalil has finally been granted his freedom to return home. Mahmoud was targeted for exercising his human rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. All of these rights must be respected in the United States and around the world, without exception.
