President Trump says that we will stop the bombing of the Houthis because they want to stop fighting. But that is not what Oman, the broker, says: this applies only to attacks on U.S. ships. What does that mean for the ships of others?Attacks on the Israelis? Not at all clear.

If the deal with the Houthis stops attacks agains all ships and attacks against Israel, it is a case of very effective coercive diplomacy by the Trump administration. If it is only about stopping attacks against US flagged ships, this is not America First, it is America Only.

Interesting contrast between the Ukrainian and Russian military strikes. Ukraine attacks military bases and Russia attacks cities. Those aren’t morally equivalent. The Trump administration focuses on interests rather than values, but shouldn’t it make Russia pay a price for that?

The reality in Gaza is heartbreaking. Hamas cares little about Palestinian suffering and exploits it. Israel should care about it and do more to ease the hunger. The UN did nothing as Hamas seized, resold the aid; it can help. U.S. should press it to work with GHF productively.

There are reports that Israel struck last night because of intelligence that Iran’s Supreme Leader made the decision go for a nuclear bomb. The U.S. must also have this intelligence, President Trump should reveal it. That’s important for explaining why Israel decided to act.
