A postcode created for the #PostCodeProject This was such a good project to do during lockdowns, when I didn't have the energy to choose the next map to do. I just worked my way down through a list of numbers. They're cool & give a sense of place, useless for navigation!

The current challenge for the Journey maps is choosing the first route to map. It's a big blocker to work through, once I get that first interview done I think things will start to flow a lot better.. Interview someone you know or choose a place you know?

These are still some of my favourite maps! The loose hand painted maps of towns, done with cheap watercolours on cheap paper. Learning how paint and paper work together (or not) & enjoying the vibrancy of colours not so useful for navigation, but really inviting and warm!

Tasmania! 🗺️ This is such a lovely one to look back on.. I think there's just something naturally pleasing about Tasmania's shape as a map, nice and balanced! I started playing around with watercolour background and then a digital overlay for navigation..

An early one, but still one of my favourites.. even if I didn't know much about paint or how dodgy paper would eat a paint brush.. there's something very inviting about this map, the wonky lines and warm colours are where it's at! Port Melbourne

The way Dr Steph spoke about understanding the Antarctic Geology as a type of investigation made it sound even more intriguing than just researching in Antarctica, which sounds pretty intriguing! avidresearch.com.au/?episodeId=034

This was actually kind of frustrating to do.. being constrained by a style can be very good for the brain I think! This one is a wonderful reminder that maps do not have to be "accurate" - though.. maps by their very nature can't tell the whole story

During lockdowns I found the concept of the 5km, 10km, 25km radius just fascinating. Everyone having their own invisible boundaries, taking bites out of the map. We don't often see round maps!

One of my favourite maps of recent times, and I don't know why I've struggled to make more of them.. cause they really are delightful. There's something so appealing about aerial imagery/painting Created for #Maptober

Good morning team #MyScienceMay, & happy Wednesday from us & Avid Research. Today we'd love you to share what inspired you to get into the area you work in today? Is it a field you've been fascinated by for a long time, or a more recent discovery? Photos always encouraged 🤩
