Crap result, Danny Walker with a woeful performance, concedes the penalty try then aimlessly kicks into nowhere with our final play

With Ashton missing out today, it means only three Wire players have appeared in every game this season. Crazy when you consider we’re only a third of the way into the season. Burgess has done well to keep us competitive with so many niggling injuries

What’s everyone’s top 5 Wire players of the season so far? For me; Harrison, Fitzgibbon, Dufty, Williams, Currie. Honourable mentions for Vaughan, King, Ashton and Thewlis. There’s Powell and Crowther too, both of whom might’ve gone a bit underrated

I’ve not been able to be as involved with Wire recently for a few reasons; but that there is a serious performance. Had the resolve and attitude to survive the early onslaught, had the precision and quality to strike when our chances came. No-one expected this from Sam Burgess.

I’ve no idea whether this is the ‘right’ thing to do, or even if there is a right thing to do in this situation. All I do know is that whatever Burgess did would’ve been seen as wrong

Absolutely class effort from Wire that, cannot fault any of the youngsters. If I’m being hyper-critical, I’d have liked some more composure from Tai on the edge in that last attack. On we go to London next week.

Collectively, they just didn’t show up at all today. Occasion got to them and heads were lost. Too much panicking, too many mistakes. Outclassed by a better team. We’ve done well under Burgess so far but that was like watching a Price or Powell team. Absolutely fucking rubbish.

I’m not mainly disappointed about the fact we’ve lost; that was always a strong possibility. What I am disappointed about is the manner in which we’ve lost and the performance we’ve produced, and how much the occasion has got to us.

Another extremely poor performance. Too many players in that team aren’t good enough. I’ve said for years that Sneyd would transform us; someone to kick us around the field, organise and offer game smarts.

God-awful performance. Important win. We need to hugely improve. A lot of people seem to not like/rate Dufty but if you took him out of the team we’d have zero threat basically. Two great tries from him have won us that game. I like him a lot, I think he’s very underappreciated.

Thirteen tries and fifteen assists in eighteen appearances for Dufty now this season. It’s wild that there’s so much criticism of a player posting those frankly ridiculous numbers.

I know that tonight was really a team and collective effort but individually I thought Tai, Dufty, Yates, Currie, Williams and Drinkwater were superb

A year ago this weekend, Wire lost 42-6 at relegated Wakefield, and coach Daryl Powell was sacked midway through a run of eight consecutive defeats. Wire have just won handsomely at Saints and Wigan in the space of seven days to go top of the league. Sam Burgess.
