Uganda’s National Coordination Mechanism on Migration has begun sharing the National Implementation Plan for the #GlobalCompactForMigration with stakeholders. This effort is supported by IOM through the Better Migration Management Programme, funded by EU in Uganda & Bundesentwicklungsministerium.

At the launch recently, NCM Chair Commissioner Patrick Okello highlighted Uganda’s progress: “Uganda is making significant strides with the draft national migration policy and the review of related frameworks to establish a comprehensive approach to migration management.

@MinHealthUG, in collaboration with IOM 🇺🇬, is reviewing the capacity of border posts to effectively respond to public health crises like the ongoing Mpox outbreak and future Ebola epidemics. Key border and health officials are part of this initiative, supported by Japan.Gov.

With support from UE à Djibouti, Uganda’s National Coordination Mechanism recently took part in a multi-country peer exchange on the implementation of the Global Compact of Migration in Nairobi, 🇰🇪.

The 2-day engagement brought together stakeholders from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, UN agencies, CSOs and Academia to explore ways to boost regional migration governance and cooperation.
