Thanks U-M Alzheimer's Disease Center for the feature on my research in the Detroit Aging Brain Study. 20+ year changes in heart health and cog aging. People in Detroit have remarkable resiliency that we can learn from to help all aging adults maintain cognitive health. Gerontology @ WSU Wayne State Psychology
Great conference going today. Featuring #DaughertyLab work on * Hipp subfield Roya Homayouni * Wayfinding Alexis Chargo * Cog-Mobility w/Takla Neuroimaging and Neurorehabilitation Lab * Distressed Community by C Lee * Medication Adherence by C Ryan Gerontology @ WSU Wayne State Psychology
Congrats Alexis Chargo for winning the Elizabeth Olson Memorial Paper Award Gerontology @ WSU for her paper on age and sex differences in cognitive mapping in a virtual Morris water maze!!! From the Detroit Aging Brain Study #DaughertyLab.
2. Congrats on her first-author publication in collab with Alexis Chargo and Ana M Daugherty “Cognitive contributors of backward walking in persons with #MultipleSclerosis”. We show that visuospatial memory and verbal recall impairments contribute to BW velocity deficits.
Great time with Wayne State IOG colleagues at the Alzheimer's Association Detroit walk yesterday. They gave us purple lab coats for presenting our research. #ENDALZ
Society for Neuroscience (SfN) 23 tomorrow afternoon Check out work led by Alexis Chargo presenting neural and cog correlates of spatial nav-cog mapping profiles in Detroit Aging Brain Study. You might be surprised what predicted the age shift... hint: it wasn't hippocampus!
Society for Neuroscience (SfN) 23 tomorrow afternoon Co-led by Taylor Alexis Chargo on mobility correlates of spatial nav in a MS patient group. Twist... the spatial nav is a SEATED virtual task. Check out our work building an understanding of mobility affecting cog processing. Neuroimaging and Neurorehabilitation Lab
Go Ana M Daugherty ! Exciting feature of my mentor and the incredible work she is doing! 🧠
@SteffiHartwell Love the wayfinding map signs in our age-friendly university! Alexis Chargo is a licensed OT & neurosci grad student studying the cognitive-motor-brain architecture of wayfinding, and its changes with age and dementia. #LifelongLearning Gerontology @ WSU Wayne State Psychology
Detroit Aging Brain Study team will be there! Come play brain games and test your trivia knowledge. Learn about how the brain and memory changes across the lifespan. Gerontology @ WSU @psych
Huge congratulations to Nicholas Chargo, PhD on a successful dissertation defense! SO proud of you and all of your incredible accomplishments. Cheers to you, Dr. Chargo! 🫶🏼🦴
What a great week at CMSC ! So proud of this group for presenting their work and completely surprised and honored to receive the IOMSRT ARTY award! New paper! · #Backward #walking metrics, including BW velocity, reliably assess #MultipleSclerosis mobility. · BW in MS shows modest correlations with future #falls & physical activity, warranting further study. @Paddytwin1 Neuroimaging and Neurorehabilitation Lab meridian.allenpress.com/ijmsc/article/…
