🄶It's chilly out there🄶 TfL cycle lane de-icing machines (inc the wonderfully named 'Chris Gritty') will be out on London's network tonight to help keep cyclists safe We don't actually use grit as liquid de-icer is safer for bikes & it's non-corrosive so your bike won't rust

An extraordinary statistic; the reality is that is not just Christmas. It’s away for Christmas within a 6-8 month deployment. My view that % too high unless it’s exceptional And it isn’t! Anyone that has served knows the true burden is on the families at home. We salute you!

An excellent thread but begs broader question on UK’s stance on sanctions - in the last 2 years how many UK prosecutions have there been for companies and individuals involved in sanction breaking? Even attempts at prosecutions? Answer not good for our upholding of rule of law.

Vessel operated by Oceanix a British company and insured by a British company apparently carrying Russian Oil. This act is hostile but I do hope there are FCDO investigations into any UK involvement in sanction busting. thetimes.co.uk/article/676774…

Huge admiration for Ship’s Coy of HMS Diamond - massive responsibility resting on a tight knit totally focussed team. I did a few Royal Navy when Iran tried similar tactics - photos and humour. There’ll be plenty of the latter onboard. Sir Jonathan W Stephen Watson

A quite extraordinary story. Government gave spytech firm Palantir the highly controversial NHS Data contract before it had finished negotiating its terms. goodlaw.social/3xgc

King's Speech fulfilled a good promise of no surprises & I like the mission led approach. A, perhaps trite, fact. Speech 1560 words, of which: - 55 given to 🚃 - 22 given to AI If securing 'economic growth is a foundational mission' then it looks rather Victorian to me!

A good article but Navy Lookout I would question one statement: the ever changing requirements of the T26. My understanding is that the requirements have been unchanged since 2012.

Ā£600m investment over 5 years. With NHS costing Ā£21m an hour to run thats 30 hours of NHS funding. Not exactly shifting the dial and the security and geopolitical risks are being ignored. ⁦Tom Tugendhat⁩ bbc.com/news/articles/…

This is disappointing journalism by Larisa Brown who is normally better. An unnamed minister allegedly asks senior officers whether they would resign over an unnamed incident. Seems an unsophisticated attempt by some to discredit a contender for CDS.
