Her initial design. The proportions in the cast design sheet are a bit wonky because I have to exaggerate the head sizes due to the canvas's resolution, which makes some characters like Celestia look weird, so I wanted to do a design w/ proper proportions. Design notes included:

These costume designs are so stellar, but I can’t help but think they’re also indicative of how Splat3’s vision got lost over time. With how white & monochrome they are, you’d think Team Order won Splat2’s Final Fest. Like, reminder that Splat3’s theme is supposed to be β€œchaos.”

Unlike Splat2, you also can’t tell who’s representing what team based on their costumes. I can see Chaos vs. Order in Pearl and Marina below. I can’t see Past vs. Present vs. Future here. But I’m nitpicking; these costumes still are kick-ass regardless.

My favorite part of S1 SU will always be how they handled the tragedy of Steven having a mother who died during childbirth. "Rose's Scabbard" and "Lion 3" obviously come to mind, but "An Indirect Kiss" always sticks out to me.

"I wish I got to know you so I'd feel sad like everyone else around me" is such a profoundly heartbreaking statement. The idea of the /lack/ of grief as tragic and the way Steven's unaware of how sad his situation truly is really gets me.

All this discourse and debate about art as politics makes me so sad and mad. Wasn't 2020 – Present the Video Essay Era of Youtube. Where the fuck did any of that information and knowledge go. Or were you just watching true crime slop.

The amount of labor/time put into a work does not equal its value. Taking Jacob's hypothetical, if works like Starry Night took only hours to paint, would it be less meaningful? Most photos are "created" in a fraction of a second. Are they worth less because they're "easy?"
