I’m noticing in responses to #Makin how accountability is being described as ‘making heads roll’ (or variants thereof). That is unhelpful (to put it mildly). Transparency and independence need accountability, these three together. Grateful for the persistence of Cathy Newman

Yes. This is based on the myth of our own independence and autonomy. But that’s not how life is lived. We’re dependent each on the other, and need to be able to depend on one another. And that is a core value of liberal democracy.
