White supremacy is not mental illness. Conspiracy theories are not mental illness. A lack of gun control is not mental illness. We need to stop blaming mental illness every time something like this happens and start addressing the actual problems.

Mercy is bandaging up people bloodied in life. Justice is systemically stopping those who are bloodying up people. The Church needs both kinds of ministries.

Jesus didn’t set us free so that we can fight for “our rights”. He set us free so that we could lay down our lives (and rights) so that others may flourish. We know this to be true because this is what Jesus modeled for us.

Thing is, we have to really be careful about who we hate. Because 10 times out of 10, it’s going to be somebody Jesus loves. And he has a way of taking it personally.

The level of power we hold must be commensurate with the level of inner work we have done (and are doing). Otherwise we destroy people & ourselves. This is why there's so many tragedies of leadership in our world: There is little congruence between our inner and outer lives.
