I hope all you storm chasers who voted for this enjoy your impending lack of/scarce NOAA/NWS products for your hobbies now, congratulations.

Since last night, I've seen more than a few folks saying "so what if they cut, we survived without the NWS before." Below is a comparison of 5+ death toll tors before & after the first tornado forecast in 1948. Cut by over half, and that's with 2 Super Outbreaks as outliers.

Reposting this to redact the identities, but the central #ilwx radar (KILX) in Lincoln now has no techs to service it if it goes down. JB Pritzker Eric Sorensen this will make central IL residents less safe during severe weather.

This is taking the knees out from our field in realtime. Means products like MRMS will become unavailable and will likely affect warning dissemination and model data availability. This is *very* bad.

For all you folks that use radar apps and weather model data, this is potentially the end of easy access to those products, I am not exaggerating.

PSA: please stop asking for 2024 tornado data on Tornado Archive without a) reading the FAQ on the site and b) realizing that tornado data may be slower to come this year because of the disruption to NOAA/NCEI. Thank you.
