The "NitFix" paper is finally out! Check out the latest and greatest phylogenetic hypothesis in the nitrogen-fixing clade (NFC), and how it suggests a complex homology behind symbiotic traits. doi.org/10.1038/s41467…

In the most recent version of the ‘WA 38’ genome paper, we phased the chromosomes into parental haplotype bins. The first in any pome fruit genomes 🍎 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Introducing Chromo, our new package for performing differential analysis in chromosome regions. Chromo works with any type of quantitative data, including RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, and more. It will be available soon

Two papers in nature present a new genome editing technique that enables the insertion, inversion and deletion of long DNA sequences at user-specified genome positions. The approach may provide an easier method of genome editing. go.nature.com/3RGkI8M go.nature.com/3RHBvIs

This semester, undergrads in BIOL 499 are part of the American Campus Tree Genomes project of Alex Harkess #ECSU. We are sequencing an oak 🌰 tree near the library. Just sent off the HMW DNA 🧬to be sequenced 🤞🤞. Students will then learn to annotate. #ECSUVikingsScience #hbcu

The #G3journal December cover features the "mother tree" of all 'WA 38' apples. A relatively new apple cultivar produced as a cross between Enterprise & Honeycrisp, 'WA 38' was bred by Kate Evans & Bruce Barritt of the WSU Apple Breeding Program. 📸: Robert W. Hubner 🔗⬇️
