Most of the public views FDA & CDC as being corrupted by Pharma $$$ & doesn't trust them. So, whatever your politics/vaccine opinions, it's good to see the Joseph A. Ladapo, MD, PhD offering his own guidance on COVID-19 Boosters. (He advises against.) content.govdelivery.com/accounts/FLDOH…

Congrats on the paper Samuele Cortese Nicholas Fabiano, MD Marco Solmi I question the findings We all agree psychotropic medications are synthetic chemicals that have chemical effects. How can it be these drugs don't have chemical effects on a pregnant mom, developing baby, & placenta?

Good point 🏁The iatrogenically harmed menstruatrix🤐🕷️ Virtually all pregnant moms take psychotropic meds for mental health reasons. But I like to point people to this RCT that clearly shows that Zoloft affects sperm development in men taking it for premature ejaculation. goldjournal.net/article/S0090-… The

Thanks for replying Nicholas Fabiano, MD. Your conclusion of "no convincing..level of evidence of adverse health outcomes assoc. with psychotropic medication use in [pregnancy].." concerns me. Many will understandably hear this as "the drugs don't affect mom or baby." This is incorrect.

About 3-8% of women take SSRIs in pregnancy. So around 200,000 US pregnancies per year. (That's using 5% of 4 million births. Actually, rates of SSRI use in pregnancy vary depending on the population studied. The "ballpark" estimate is 3% in Europe & closer to 8% in the US.)

Makena was used in pregnancy for decades before it was finally pulled off the market in 2023. This new study shows that it alters brain development. The precautionary principle dictates that pregnant women be given as few pharmaceuticals as possible. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.10…

This study showed ⬆️ preterm birth risk with antidepressant use, which was independent of underlying depression. The complications seen with SSRI use can't just be blamed on the depression ("confounding by indication.") There are chemical toxic effects. healio.com/news/womens-he…

Many women stop taking antidepressants during pregnancy (25-80%). Reported outcomes vary. In this new study, stopping an SSRI or SNRI was not associated with adverse psychiatric-related outcomes for up to 1.5 years after childbirth. jamanetwork.com/journals/jaman…

In this new study, pregnant women who stopped taking antidepressants did not have increased adverse mental health outcomes. They actually had fewer days of sick leave by 1.5 years after childbirth than those who continued on antidepressants. jamanetwork.com/journals/jaman…

CDC & ACOG recommend 4 vaccines in pregnancy: Flu, Tdap, RSV, & COVID. My patients often ask: "How do we know that all these vaccines won't have adverse effects on my baby & me?" The answer is: "We don't." Women's vax concerns should be acknowledged & their choices supported.

Adam Urato, MD (@adamurato1) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Thanks Kevin Ault But my patients are not wrong to have vaccine concerns. We don't have long-term data (or RCTs) on the effects of giving pregnant women 4 vaccines during pregnancy. It's just not there. Vaccines are synthetic chemical preparations made in chemical

Recently, vaccine experts called for more funding for vaccine-safety science because vaccine risks aren't fully characterized, study is incomplete, & progress is slow. For pregnant women, these gaps are particularly concerning. More study is needed & caution is warranted.
