Not enough credit being given to Darwin Núñez for his contribution to this goal. The guys gets so much grief if he misses a chance but no plaudits for these centre forward qualities. Challenges well in the air against the defender, picks up the second ball, composed pass šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼

Game Intensity Index (GII) Given the FA’s revamp of youth game formats, I think it’s worthwhile reminding ourselves of a simple equation we can use to adjust the size & ā€˜intensity’ of the training game we design. GII = Pitch Area / no. of outfield players #SundayShare

Today, in our BTEC Sport class we've been thinking about what qualities are 'essential' for a performance coach. Students have contributed to this and started creating their own posters for Unit 8: Coaching for Performance.

A good team of coaches+academics worked together to write this article. It was nice to be invited to contribute. Coaches should be aware that there is little substantial evidence that unopposed ā€œtechnicalā€ practice is required before opposed, game-like activities

I’ll shout about this all day + night because it deserves to be shouted about. Wonderful example of a great coach in action.

Totally understand the sentiment behind this but I’d argue that both problems would be solved by simply adopting a similar ā€˜clock’ to futsal; where it stops whenever the ball is out of play or there is an interruption, so as to ensure ā€˜playing time’ is actually spent playing.

Didn’t know there were so many different interpretations of a volley or half-volley ~ what seems obvious or widely known to one person might be completely unknown to someone else šŸ¤”

⁦Nick Smallridge⁩ does a great job of taking advanced concepts of CLA and EcoD and make so all of us coaches can understand them and put them into our practice sessions! Can’t wait for part 2!!! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coa…

Skill acquisition is best understood as the unconscious acquisition of a movement language—a system of embodied communication where play, deception, and storytelling are foundational, not incidental. Key pillars: šŸƒMovement is a linguistic system with deep/surface structures

"The term 'affordance' is far more spesific in understanding why player may have acted in the manner in which they did. The term 'decision-making' has also led to many viewing the game through reductionist lens of 'correct or incorrect' or 'fast or slow'."

What's missing from young athletes' lives these days? it's the fun stuff, it's the easy stuff, it's the stuff they used to do a long time ago but somehow got forgotten when everyone's driving to practice every night or playing intournaments all weekend... It's the riding bikes
