We’d like to welcome our newest lab member: Tito! With a GoPro and GPS built in, Tito takes photos of the seafloor. Thanks to Tito, PhD students Scott Miller and Ally Dubel can gather data from a broader research area in Mo’orea and revisit sites from year to year #fieldworkfriday

Today's #fieldworkfriday features 1st yr PhD student Allie Blanchette! Allie travelled to Bonaire in May w/ the McCoy Lab (@MarEcology) for some site scoping on the coral reefs. She's busy sketching out a research plan and will be returning in Aug. for data collection. Stay tuned!

🗣️New paper alert! Sarah Lester, PhD and team provide the 1st systematic review of #mariculture policy for the U.S.'s 23 coastal states, offering insights into policy development at both the state and federal level. Check out this NOAA Sea Grant funded research: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ra…

Presenters will include Becca Gentry, Sarah Lester, PhD, Hayley Lemoine, and @bess_ruff from our lab and FSU Geography as well as @refailsafe from Duke Environment

Check out the latest from @bess_ruff and Sarah Lester, PhD! Along with Dr. Tyler McCreary of FSU Geography, they navigate the ways in which geographers have grappled with #mariculture and outline important arenas for greater disciplinary reckoning.

Excited to participate in this awesome event. Come check out some of the research we’re working on in the Rasster Lab 🪸📷🤿🐠

Hey y’all, after some time away, the Rasster lab is back on Twitter! We have some exciting changes to faces and roles that we’ll be sharing throughout the week. First up is the newest PhD student to join the lab, Laurel Field! (1/4)

Navigating US #mariculture policy can be hard. New Rasster Lab postdoc @bess_ruff is here to make it easy! Partnering with Sea Grant Law Center, Bess is building a database of coastal states’ mariculture policies–a one stop shop for info about permits, leases, regulations & more! (1/2)

Tune in tomorrow for Joshua C. Manning, PhD's PhD dissertation defense, titled “Investigating the foraging, social, and spatial ecology of Caribbean parrotfishes,” for @FSUbio at 2 pm in King 2057 or DM for zoom link! photo credit: Krista Laforest

Congratulations to Allie Blanchette on receiving funding for her research! Allie was awarded the Mote Research Assistantship and the Mart P. Hill Endowment for Student Excellence from @FSUbio to support her research on the adaptive capacity of #staghorncoral in #Bonaire!

Congratulations to Ally Dubel! Ally was awarded the Mote Research Assistantship, Martin Family Graduate Fellowship in Biological Sciences, and Edith Trott Endowed Scholarship from @FSUbio to support her research on coral-algal competition in the lagoons of #Moorea!

Congratulations to PhD student Allie Blanchette for advancing to candidacy in @FSUbio! Stay tuned for all the exciting research on #staghorncoral stressors in #Bonaire Allie will be doing for her dissertation!
