1/2 Recently WebAssembly caught my attention so I built an embeddable code editor with Next.js and Codemirror that uses Pyodide to run Python code in the browser. In this video, you can see how I embed the editor to Open edX without installing any plugin only with an iframe

Last year, I resuscitated my blog. I haven’t yet ported over older pieces, so the list of posts is short. My pace of posting has been anemic, mainly because I’m getting in my own way. Today, I decided to address that: aaronbeals.com/posts/trying-a…

In what will likely reduce the number of Meta recruiter calls and emails I get, I wrote this post about how I’ve disengaged from Facebook and Instagram, and why: aaronbeals.com/posts/why-i-di…

PSA FROM YOUR FRIENDLY PUBLIC DEFENDER: DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR CHILDREN’S DNA TO A DATABASE! For that matter, this applies to everyone: DO NOT EVER VOLUNTARILY GIVE A DNA SAMPLE.

Eliza Orlins (@elizaorlins) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Having seen the surreptitious way NY collects DNA of children as young as 12 and puts it in a DNA database, I can guarantee you Texas is not collecting this DNA to identify victims of school shootings, but rather to prosecute and incarcerate children and their family members.

If you’re wondering why Twitter is still up & running with the majority of hardcore engineers gone, it’s because many exceptional engineers over the years gave it all they had to ensure the platform scaled under any conditions. Twitter was resilient 💙

Aaron Beals (@abeals) 's Twitter Profile Photo

yep, because we're all exfiltrating our personal data so we have a fresh backup, in case some key engineers no longer work there.

This is very late 90's / early 2000's, but I'm planning to ramp up blogging instead. Let's respond to each other with longer-form posts that take time and thought... ... and to which random bots can't respond.

Read this whole thread. I was about to set one up to boost the federated web, but this is an angle I hadn’t considered.

Elon says "We will have to do a total rewrite to gain velocity" and immediately Ian Brown is says "tell me what's so crazy about the stack; just describe it and how rewriting will gain you velocity" You will be surprised to know he did not respond.

JS thought leadership wants you to render on the server, but it cannot possibly be a Node app responding with HTML. It must involve a custom compiler, a new RPC protocol and a cloud service. Nothing less will do.
