تُكتب الخطابات الرئاسية بلغة رفيعة يتولى ذلك خبير في البلاغة وهذا واضح من اختيار العبارات والألفاظ في خطاب بايدن.مثلاً عبارة stand down تعني يتنحى وينسحب ولكن لها معنى آخر وهو التماس الراحة بعد تعب ونَصَبْ.في لغة الصحافة يُستخدم الفعل drop out والذي يعني الانسحاب نتيجة بالفشل.
