Our post doc Basel Musmar looked at Stroke Disparities: 1-Longer stroke onset to puncture time in patients coming from lower income zip codes . 2-Higher discharge to home and higher 30 day readmission in patients from higher income zip codes . 3-Significant racial differences

Treatment of AVMs in eloquent brain can be challenging! This is the most recent paper from the MISTA consortium in International Journal of Stroke masterfully crafted by the one and only Basel Musmar ! Jefferson Neurosurgery : 1- Higher risk of complications and lower obliteration rate 2- Embo increased

Another paper from the MISTA consortium executed by our brilliant postdoc Basel Musmar : 1- AVMs with single draining vein were more likely to present with rupture and hemorrhagic complications compared to those with multiple draining veins 2-No significant differences between

May is stroke awareness month, I would like to highlight this recent paper from our Moyamoya collaboration prepared by our superstar postdoc Basel Musmar Jefferson Neurosurgery showing that hypertension and current smoking are significant predictors of perioperative stroke in patients

12.2M people will suffer a stroke this year! 🧠 Every second counts. Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) saves lives, yet <3% globally get it! ⏳ MT has an NNT of 3-8 — among the most effective interventions in stroke care. Insights from Dr. Ramakrishnan’s talk.

Recently we published a paper on recurrence of LVO post mechanical thrombectomy ( Joanna Roy ) one of the etiologies was the delay in starting anti thrombotic therapy , in this new paper in Neuroradiology ( Basel Musmar ) we looked at hemorrhagic conversion comparing MR to CT.
