And we’re off! Trinity Hall here we come with the class of 2031! A day of understanding what it’s like to be a University scholar and realise what is possible with hard work and great grades!

All of our Y7s are going to Cambridge University to visit Trinity Hall, Downing College and Magdalene College. We want all scholars to get to university, or a real alternative, so let’s get them there in their first year. Another day, another life changing opportunity.

Our first stop for Co2031 is the archaeology department. Scholars are already absorbed in the moment and staff are commenting just how polite they all are! Trinity Hall

Even Trinity Hall use turn and talk to get scholars to reinforce what they are learning! Doug Lemov would be proud!

Walking scholars past the beautiful buildings and watching them marvel at the architecture is truly making them believe they can go to university!

The formal dining hall of Magdalene college. Scholars left asking if we could have our Family Dining somewhere like this! They asked questions about the history and the famous Latin on the windows. They were honoured to see such a wonderful part of University life. #PD #scholars

Now it’s the turn of the second half of Co2031 to go to Trinity Hall . After hearing the stories from the first half of the year group and their inspirational day, they just can’t wait to get there!

Scholarly habits on our way down. We don’t go on electronic devices, we read, quiz on curriculum facts and have good conversations with each other!

Today starts with a tour of the beautiful Trinity Hall and some mini quizzing!

We’re ready for our mini lecture from Xanthe, who has done an amazing job representing Trinity Hall and putting a warm, welcoming, friendly and scholarly programme together over the 2 days we have been their guest!

We’re finishing the day by programming ‘cutebots’ in the computer science faculty! Scholars are truly absorbed after a day of myth busting, tours, English language and lots of walking to see the sights of Cambridge University

We finished the week with staff vs scholars netball. Thanks to everyone for taking part and making it so much fun.

Brilliant to see some of our Astrea Academy Woodfields Y11 scholars working hard on a Saturday and really committing to this last push. Absolute pleasure to deliver a literature session this morning.

And so it begins, the preparation and skills required to complete a successful expedition, some great teamwork and leadership skills on show!
