There are 2 paddy varieties grown in India: PUSA-44 and PR-126. Farmers prefer PUSA coz of higher yield. PR-126 is a shorter variety - uses 30% less water, 20% less stubble and grows faster (more time to manage stubble). Govt can mandate PR-126 nd solve farm fires #pollution
