The first round of CFD testing on the preliminary Phoenix OML yielded better than expected results...but we still have more refinement ahead until we freeze. They say the bird below is currently the slipperiest 4-place E-AB out there. Challenge Accepted.

Much work on the Phoenix this weekend. Found some more efficiency gains that will also make other areas of the aircraft easier to manufacture, assemble and maintain. It is a lot of work, work that now has us seeing double ๐Ÿ˜‰!!

Since we haven't posted anything of much substance lately, how about an early render of the Phoenix's shape? She has evolved greatly since; this took us a few hours with FreeCAD (CAD+CAM+FEA) , then was put through the paces in the OpenFOAM environment!

Thanks to the new Assembly WB in FreeCAD (CAD+CAM+FEA) , the development of the Phoenix's retractable landing gear is going smoothly, allowing us to iterate accurately & quickly. In fact, we ran a 'v0.1' gear on the OML and did a first CFD simulation earlier today! FreeCAD rocks!
