Epicenter has a lateral condylar fracture of his right foreleg, according to trainer Steve Asmussen. He is expected to undergo surgery tomorrow morning at Rood and Riddle.

I feel so bad, bc Ria seems to have been traumatized by getting scoped (fasting, shipping in a small trailer 2x in one day which she HATES, the scoping itself, & a minor colic episode after). She hasn't eaten breakfast the last two mornings and has been super anxious. Poor girl😭

My poor little whack job still isn't any better. Got her some stall toys and started her back on alfalfa but it's had absolutely no effect. May have to put her on trazodone for a short period of time. 😥

Here's the newest update on Ria which covers the last couple of months #retiredracehorse #ottb hackingthetb.com/2022/11/08/new…

Ria is definitely starting to do better after getting back into some work and starting the trazodone. She ate about half her breakfast this morning (big improvement from not eating it at all since her gastroscopy) and wasn't as anxious. Glad to see my girl on the improve!

How the heck did I used to mount horses regularly from those tiny two-step mounting blocks? I couldn't manage to get on Ria bareback from a three-step today lmao. She's justtt too tall for me to do it comfortably.

Woohoo!!! Ria is back to eating normally again and not spinning like a lunatic in her stall in the mornings! Took a while for her to get over that traumatic gastroscopy but I'm so happy to see her doing better. We also had a lovely ride last night!

My first trail ride with Ria is in the books! She was so excited that she maintained a super collected trot for 95% of the ride. Huge thanks to my friend Grace and her mare Cooley for their patience with us today (and for the photo)!

It's amazing how far Ria has come since last year in terms of lunging. This time last year, she was throwing explosive fits on the end of the line, including lots of bucking and rearing. She's relaxing now, letting her head drop a little bit, and paying attention to me. So proud!

I'm not 100% sold on HISA, but if you're positioned against a program whose public mission is to make racing safer, you'd best have a plan front-and-center to make it safer than HISA ever could, or else it just looks like you're against horse welfare. Will you improve or impede?

This is one of the (many) reasons why I love WV Stables so much. They always want to increase the horse's quality of life, whether that's through racetrack training and other life improvements there, or by retiring the horse to a great home. I am so proud to be a WVS member.

So I ended up paying someone to put a few training rides on Ria and it seems to have helped enormously. Ria was an angel in the crossties today - best she's ever been, she was easy to mount, and did a really lovely job under saddle. She got a well-deserved apple AND peppermints.

Superb essay by flysofree . For #horseracing to really work owners must be where responsibility lies. Just like in other businesses, the buck starts and stops at the top. paulickreport.com/news/ray-s-pad…

Ria (JC Sevilla Sangria) is surprising her BFF, Lauren, with all the things she's learning. It seems she has learned what "Cheese" means. 😂 #ottb Lauren Floyd
