Happy International #AngelSharkDay! 🦈 Today we celebrate the family Squatinidae, the angel sharks! Amongst the most threatened families of elasmobranchs in the world, we work with our partners in the Angel Shark Conservation Network to profile & better protect them. 📸LM Estévez

We aim to make sure that national legislation for angel sharks is established, implemented & enforced. In February we attended Fish Forum in Türkiye, engaging with GFCM officials and showcasing the breadth of flat shark conservation work across the Mediterranean. #AngelSharkDay🦈

The 3 species of angel shark in the Med have very similar body shapes, patternation, & species range so identifying to species level can be challenging. With our partners, we have developed ID guides to help distinguish between species! 🦈#AngelSharkDay
