A Swiss court sentenced a former Gambian interior minister to 20 years in prison for crimes against humanity committed when President Yahya Jammeh was in power. Ousman Sonko fled to Switzerland in 2016, shortly before Mr Jammeh was voted out of office.

The head of the Tunisian Bar Association has called for an end to the abuse of power following a police raid on its headquarters and the arrest of two prominent lawyers. Hatem Meziou said the arrests were heavy-handed and urged President Kais Saied to intervene.
