Somali pirates have released a ship they had seized a month ago in the Indian Ocean. All 23 crew members from the Bangladeshi-flagged vessel were also freed. The pirates said they were paid a $5m ransom. The ship's owner (KSRM) refused to comment on whether any money was paid

The ruling military junta in Mali has suspended all political activities in the country until further notice. A spokesman, Colonel Abdoulaye Maiga, said the suspension was motivated by what he called 'sterile discussions' during an attempt at national dialogue earlier this year.
