Hurricanes disrupt everything, including research at UF/IFAS Nature Coast Biological Station. Last year, Idalia destroyed the station's dry lab space. To minimize disruptions to research, we went with a mobile lab that can be moved off-island in the event of another storm. #HurricaneSeason

Stormwater ponds do more than control flooding. Scientists are just beginning to understand the ecosystem services they provide (or don't). From Audrey Goeckner's dissertation (w/ AJ Reisinger & Dr. Ashley Smyth): blogs.ifas.ufl.edu/swsdept/2024/0…

One year after #HurricaneIdalia knocked out parts of UF/IFAS Nature Coast Biological Station, scientists have figured out a way to weather storms without interrupting their research with a field lab on wheels. With its help, their work can move and continue inland while storms pass on the Nature Coast.
