Good for him. The right decision explained with candour and humility. He remains one of the most entertaining sportspeople I have ever seen in the flesh; I wish him well

A leader of a major political party speaks. With the dignity of a toddler who has grown over-tired at a child’s birthday party. From Caroline Lucas to this…

Coming back to this shabby treatment of the electorate. The Greens deserve at least as much media attention as Reform given their vote share. Because at present they get away with stunts like this, providing refuge to ex-Labour cranks and nimbyism as an art form.

With more than a million Palestinian civilians sheltering in Rafah, an Israeli offensive must not go ahead.

There must be an immediate ceasefire, the immediate release of all hostages, and unimpeded aid into Gaza that can be delivered regularly, quickly and safely.

It is quite clear that having invested so much into “stop the boats” the PM now feels fastened into it even where better options are available. Call it the Sunak Costs Fallacy, if you will

So long to our friend, our king, Bernard Hill.

We will never forget you.

One of the late stages of political madness is delusion. You’re not lying. You believe what you’re saying. You’ve persuaded yourself everyone else is wrong. But your beliefs don’t factor in reality.

Galloway melts under scrutiny and his remarks this week were not a revelation for those of us who’ve followed his politics closely and have opposed him at every turn.

My changed Labour Party is for anyone who loves this country, aspires for themselves and their family, and knows we can do better than this.

We will turn the page on this decade of Tory decline and give Britain the future it deserves.

Three politicians from the Conservative party, which lost almost 500 councillors and multiple mayoral contests in these local elections, featured on the Laura Kuenssberg programme this morning.

None from the Greens or Lib Dems, who both made significant gains across the country.

So much breath wasted on a Labour city where the result is roughly what polls predicted and so little on Labour winning NORTH YORKSHIRE which tells us so much more about where politics is in this country

This is the point we've reached. Utter denial. Mark Harper knows this isn't true. Every member of the cabinet knows it isn't true. Every Conservative MP knows it isn't true. It's the Tory version of 'Jeremy Corbyn won the argument'.
