The most effective & sustainable way to deliver aid – such as food, drinking water, and medical equipment – is via land transport. The trickle of aid being let into Gaza is simply not sufficient to meet the needs of hungry and desperate people Food is vital, & so is dignity.

Such a compassionate volunteer and a talented photographer whose last video captured the haunting airstrikes around at Al-Amal hospital. Ameer and 14 other PRCS health staff and volunteers were killed while they should have been protected. Rest in Power Ameer. 🙏🏻

In 16 yrs, People in #Gaza managed to survive a prolonged blockade, 6 devastating conflicts, cyclic escalations & staggering levels of poverty & unemployment. Their ability to resurrect is impossible this time. They’ve lost everything. Entire generations lost the power of hope.

It’s been 6 months now. People must go back to their homes, or whatever left of them. Dead bodies must be retrieved & decently burried. Patients need medical care. Hunger must end. Families need to be reunited. No more children killed. END THIS NIGHTMARE NOW

Ziad should’ve been preparing his new clothes & receive new toys as #Eid gifts. Instead, he’s hospitalized due to severe burn injuries. Like Ziad, there’re other 1,000s of children who should be celebrating Eid instead of being killed, orphaned or separated from their parents.

After 6 months, whats’s happening in #Gaza cannot be normalized. Fabrizio Carboni explains what challenges humanitarians here and how they continue their efforts despite all to maintain a bare-minimum level of service, and dignity!

On 7 Oct 2023, Israeli authorities took the decision to suspend ICRC detention visits until future notice. Detainees originating from the occupied territories are considered protected persons under the 4th GVA Convention. We must be given access to them wherever they’re held.

Most people did not arrive in #Rafah directly, but have been displaced two, three, or four times before. Helpless families are forced to move again with no destination to safety. A political agreement can simply put the bloodshed to an end and help families reunite. Our call👇🏼

Mirjana Spoljaric, ICRC President at #UNSC: 📢 People caught in armed conflicts need action. Parties must: Treat detainees humanely & facilitate our access Prevent people from going missing & clarify their fate Commit to & apply IHL to protect civilians ms.spr.ly/6012Yw3Im

A deadly night in Rafah. The ICRC field hospital has dealt with an influx of casualties with injuries and burns. Our teams are doing their best to save lives & other hospitals are already overwhelmed. Now more than ever civilians must be protected, #IHL rules must be upheld.

Living through horror for everyone in #Gaza has been the "normal" after nearly 8 months of fighting. Many have already lost all their loved ones, and they fear they will be the next. The unimaginable fear overshadows all the unspoken pain.

It doesn't matter how. It doesn't matter who. It doesn't matter where. It doesn't matter why. Torture is never acceptable and always illegal.

For 9 months, the entire #Gaza population has been stuck in the endless loop of displacement amidst nonstop fighting. Thousands of children, elderly, sick & injured spent last night on the streets with no shelter in Khan Younis. This must not become their normal life.

Calls for help never stopped coming from everywhere in Gaza City. They all ask to be spared & survive the killing & fighting, while they know they'll continue to face inhumane living conditions indefinitely. Amidst unclarity, civilians cannot make life or death decisions.

Under International Humanitarian Law (IHL), media professionals working in armed conflicts enjoy the same rights and protections as any other civilian, as long as they are not part of the fight. They must be protected, and we decry attacks against them.

Again, forced to evacuate for the 10th time in 10 months. Not knowing where to go, what to carry on the run or what’s coming next. For too many in Gaza, it’s even extremely harder and more dangerous. Simply, there’s no option. When will this nightmare end?
