Fossils found during road construction in China = a new #ankylosaur species, Datai yingliangis. Described by our scientists Jordan Mallon+Tetsuto Miyashita, and colleagues in China. The dinos died as juveniles, one lying on the other. #FossilFriday. bit.ly/48lP2uY

New paper out today in Vertebrate Anatomy Morphology Palaeontology by former student t. murray wj redescribing a baby hadrosaurid skull using CT tech. Great work, Trystan! #CMNPalaeo journals.library.ualberta.ca/vamp/index.php…

Tried something new in lab this year: argument mapping exercise. We picked a topic (sauropod neck posture) & traced the argument through the lit over many weeks. We only scratched the surface, but it's a great way to teach students how to navigate the lit & formulate arguments.

How big could T. rex get? How does bias in the fossil record affect our ability to sample the largest body sizes? I try to answer these questions with Dr Dave Hone here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10… With fantastic supporting artwork by Mark Witton. #CMNPalaeo

How large could dinosaurs get? Jordan Mallon and Dr Dave Hone used T-rex as an example: computer modelling suggests this king of the carnivores may have been 70% heavier, and 25% longer. Read more: bit.ly/3WBOUoy #FossilFriday #Dinosaurs #TRex

Well done, Josh Wasserlauf! Josh worked on questions of hadrosaurid palaeoecology using C, O, and Sr isotopes. Keep an eye out -- he's got some intriguing results to share... #CMNPalaeo

Anyone happen to know where I can find Charles H. Sternberg's 1908 and 1909 field notes relating to his fieldwork in Wyoming (original or transcripts)?
