In most autism spaces yt autistic people and yt autism parents take up the space and leave marginalized people to the wolves which leave them to create space for them. Don't get mad at them for creating a space that you don't identify with. This is why autism is whitewash by /3

Cosmos is Mine 💙 I know a nonspeaking autistic guy who was being taught numbers and colours at a school for autistic children (where they didn't really want him, because he was supposedly ineducable) and when he fiiiinally got access to robust AAC he asked to be taught calculus.

'What I’m waiting for, still, is a nuanced portrayal of autistic adults on our screens. Something that elicits more than an ‘Aw!’, as you do to a donkey wandering off a Nativity stage. Because there’s so much to say.'

As an autistic father to an autistic son with severe learning disabilities, these organisations do not speak for me, but often the opposite. You say ND advocates do not speak for all autistics, well you do not speak for all parents either. From mother blame to child blame.

The children who Elaine Aron was describing as HSP (their nieces or nephews) were later diagnosed autistic. Funny that. #Autism #HSP

i was one of those people who was lulled into the HSP narrative for a while. suspect some people need time to embrace their neurodivergence fully, as i did :)

As a person with ADHD cocaine don't do shit for me

My child has never eaten sweets, chocolate, doesn't eat ice-cream, cake, crisps etc
Nor burgers, pizza, take aways...the list goes on & on.

And he has ADHD 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️
