Huge congrats to the Hornby Magazine and Key Publishing team for Model World LIVE at the NEC. National coverage (even in Kernow!), and a world record too! Fabulous effort by all!
Excellent nuanced thread by The Man in Seat 61 - Been thinking about this since yesterday. By focusing on trains & who owns them, a lot of the arguments about privatisation/nationalisation miss important external/internal factors. Correlation does not = causation. 1/
Ash World in motion... In short, yes I do Ash. The devil is in the detail of course. it's my view that Rail Partners are simply schills for the concession holders. Until a point they can once again take cost and revenue risk, they add no value.
World in motion... I think that's right. In the great scheme of things NWR isn't broken, therefore it isn't a real priority. Plenty of time to think how it fits into a future integrated railway. First priority is fix the train service. Boringly reliable is what's needed.
Roger Ford Well spotted. Also leaving ROSCOs and NWR alone, for now. All good. You know when they're on the right track when Rail Partners start to winge.
Here's our initial take on The Labour Party rail plans. A pragmatic approach - but with risks.
And to add to the excitement this morning, the latest issue is out, featuring CrossCountry Trains bold new look for its Voyagers and Turbostars. It's generated quite a reaction already - to find out more pop to your newsagent and pick up a copy. It's bleddy 'ansum!
Great to see this month's Modern Railways going in hard on #electrification ... reporting on the important RIA strategic electrification and rolling stock report. Get it here #electrifyAllTheThings riagb.org.uk/ALCHPNZRW24
If any prospective or current ministers or their SpAds want to know how to resolve the rly IR issues; I can heartily recommend a strategy session with me and Graham Eccles over dinnerβ¦
Railpassion πππΊπ¦π¬π§π¨π Andy Bowes-Roden = = Modern Railways CrossCountry Trains Ian Walmsley Well. Clearly doesn't understand the ORR's allocation of the additional paths behind the much delayed new ECML timetable. A sad saga I am covering next month. Includes the first Schroedinger's enhancement. Cancelled yet never authorised.
