We agree ⤵️. We also point to the need to find funding for mental health care in order to provide alternatives to ‘place of safety’ orders. Far too many psychiatrist-assessed severely ill people stuck in prison because of lack of alternatives .

This, from Amnesty International, is beyond offensive. Women and girls in Afghanistan do not identify as women and girls. If it were that simple, they could identify as male and escape oppression. The same is true of females subjected to FGM, child marriage, rape in marriage and other abuses

Every prison governor I have ever met wants more autonomy to recruit their own staff. It’s very difficult to drive culture change unless you can build your own team..
