Both the Greenbelt and the Growth Plan were built on a grand bargain: Environmentally sensitive land would be set aside, but cities would densify to make sure every family could afford a home.

Ontario did the first, but reneged on the second.

The 'luxury condos' the NDP leader loves to disparage are the only affordable market rate housing left for many of my friends, who will also never qualify for affordable housing unless we up our spending by a few trillion. His good points get lost in the empty sloganeering.
