Housed in a prestigious building constructed in 1902 and adorned with imported French faience, the college aimed to educate and « re-educate » the elite of the African society. By 1903, the school boasted 59 students.

With the consolidation of colonial rule, the College of Sons of Leaders was replaced by the #Medesra of Saint-Louis in 1909. The historic building then served as a home for the College of Young Girls until 1965, before being repurposed as an #elementaryschool.
