FanDuel will begin charging a 50-cent transaction fee on every bet placed on its platform in Illinois on Sept. 1, 2025, the company announced Tuesday. The transaction fee is in response to a recent tax increase on sportsbooks in Illinois.

Coach’s challenges — at any point in the game — are coming to college basketball. And, more importantly, “Officials cannot conduct video review on out-of-bounds calls unless through a coach's challenge.” The final two minutes of a game will no longer take 20 minutes. In theory.

Hey, they also fixed the "any meager contact near the groin is an automatic ejection" malarkey! It can now be called a Flagrant 1 I am definitely appreciative that the sport's higher-ups listen to and acknowledge stuff that is fixable like this, block/charge, reviews, etc

One to watch. Big time rise over the last year. The Jayhawks needed another impact player to fill out their 25/26 roster. This gets the job done in my opinion 👏

Update: The NCAA Tournament selection committee has wrapped its annual summer meeting and there is NO decision in on whether or not to expand the NCAA Tournament, source confirms to CBS Sports. An official update from the NCAA is expected shortly. Pete Thamel first here.

The fact that the selection committees could not hash out a decision—even for as early as 2026—this week is an intriguing development. Sources previously indicated to me that determining what to do for 2026 felt like a necessary step to achieve this week ... and it didn't happen.

Any expansion of the NCAA tournaments for this season is growing more unlikely, per comments from executives, including Charlie Baker, who appeared here in DC on Thursday. “Logistics” are likely to push expansion, if adopted, to 2026-27. bit.ly/4macum2

If you're expecting Iowa State to take a step back this season, you may have another thing coming. The Cyclones are set to build off last season - not regress from it. For Basket Under Review subscribers: basketunderreview.com/no-step-back-w…
