FanDuel will begin charging a 50-cent transaction fee on every bet placed on its platform in Illinois on Sept. 1, 2025, the company announced Tuesday. The transaction fee is in response to a recent tax increase on sportsbooks in Illinois.

Statement from DraftKings on the tax hike on sportsbooks in Illinois: “In response to the recent and prior mobile sports wagering tax increases in Illinois, DraftKings anticipates taking action and expects to share more information soon.”

Update: The NCAA Tournament selection committee has wrapped its annual summer meeting and there is NO decision in on whether or not to expand the NCAA Tournament, source confirms to CBS Sports. An official update from the NCAA is expected shortly. Pete Thamel first here.

The fact that the selection committees could not hash out a decision—even for as early as 2026—this week is an intriguing development. Sources previously indicated to me that determining what to do for 2026 felt like a necessary step to achieve this week ... and it didn't happen.
