Our fallen brother Deputy Darren Almendarez was honored by renaming Harris County Precinct 2 North East Community Center. Ed Gonzalez & HCSO are grateful to Pct 2, Commissioner Adrian Garcia & everyone who worked together to honor our friend and colleague. Gone but never forgotten.

Fallen Deputy Darren Almendarez was a 23-year department veteran and worked as an Auto Theft Task Force Investigator. He was killed when he interrupted three men attempting to steal a catalytic converter from his vehicle. He was an extraordinary husband, father, and friend.

Seeing this is literally like Deja vu with what happened with my uncle. The fact that my uncle died OVER A CAR PART and deputy Esqueda died OVER A DAMN PIZZA is so fuckin ridiculous. This literally hit home with my family and something that 100% shouldn’t have happened.
