ā€œIn the NBA, as in life, you never have as much time as you feel like you're supposed to have. And you don't appreciate your best days quite enough while you're living them because you tend to imagine the future as more of the same.ā€ Good read from Joe Wolfond

OKC is 3-of-20 from three, but the change from the Pacers to dial back some of the full-court pressure in exchange for dialing up some of the half-court pressure, with full-bodied help and occasional doubles, altered the rhythm of the game — while preserving energy on offense.

- OKC has never lost 4 times in 7 games - 14 previous teams won at least 80 games; 13 of them won the title - Home teams are 15-4 in Finals game 7s OKC deserves to be favored, and they are. It will take something extraordinary to win tonight. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Growing up a Butler Bulldogs and Pacers fan, I have been immensely fortunate to see multiple all-time, iconic postseason runs and also conditioned to expect heartbreaking losses at the very threshold of success. The Hayward shot has been on repeat in my mind the last 2 days.

PG, Oladipo, and now Tyrese. Broken leg, torn quad, torn achilles. I mean the game isn’t over but it’s not an understatement to say this version of the pacers might be.

This is apt from Joe Wolfond. I’ve been thinking about this ever since Tatum’s injury. It fucking sucks that it’s relevant for us too, but the good moments are more precious than we know.

Spent the second quarter wandering aimlessly and thinking about the relationship between joy and impermanence and what a team is really made of. It was true pregame and it’s true now: win or lose, this was remarkable and awesome. Thanks guys šŸ’›šŸ’™

At some point, maybe in a week, or in a month or later this year, I will be able to fully appreciate how incredible this Pacers season was. And it really was incredible. But it won’t be today. Sometimes sports just rip your heart out, right when you most want to believe.

Someday, I hope there will be an era of Pacers basketball that just ends with a normal, non-devastating loss, rather than PG’s leg snapping in two, Oladipo’s knee falling apart, or Tyrese falling to the ground in anguish.

Man. Don’t know how to explain it other than shock. Words cannot express the pain of this letdown. The frustration is unfathomable. I’ve worked my whole life to get to this moment and this is how it ends? Makes no sense. Now that I’ve gotten surgery, I wish I could count the

Last year after my third meniscus tear, the doctor called and told me that was it: no team sports, stop running - In short, quit the things you’ve always loved. I cried on the subway. It was like losing part of me. But eventually you do find yourself again. Believe it.
