The first full day of camp! After a restful night in the tents we woke up in high spirits. We took some time for thoughts and reflection. Everyone came away full of thought. Then we went to set out our patrol areas before cooking our shepherds pie on wood fires.

As the blistering sun rose over the Peak District we ventured to Blue John Cavern to explore the incredible chambers and tunnels. We then returned to camp to compete for the prestigious Greenhalgh Trophy (our version of MasterChef UK 🍴).

Very much enjoyed my day at the 19th Bolton Scouts camp today. Lovely to see the scouts having fun outdoors with friends and to catch up with Bolton School Alumni young and old(er) who do so much as leaders

As the Y6s joined our main party during the incident hike, we all had fun performing various outdoor activities. We then put the lads and ladies to hard work bailing David’s hay for the sheep. We finished the day with a spoons tournament won by Jack Rothwell.

On the Y6s second day we participated in camp Olympics followed by our swimming competition. Then we roughed it out on the infamous camp commando course before an orange juice crisis occurred. Lastly we came together and sang around the campfire as we have for so many years

Before we waved farewell to our Y6s we set off on a long and treacherous day hike through the rolling west Pennines. After we said goodbye to the next generation of scouts we participated in the grand scout quiz.

The scouts were slowly accepting the fate that camp was coming to an end as we took on the bushcraft challenges set for us. From lighting fires with mirrors to baking a lamb roast, the lads and ladies put on a good showing. Jodrell Bank and a visit to Macclesfield FC (C) tomorrow

Tonight’s meeting was slightly different to the norm, as we took time to get to know each other, both in patrols but as a troop. Multiple team buildings exercises were taken on, some more successful than others, but hopefully the entire troop is now more familiar with one another

Tonight we sharpened up on some of our more basic scouting skills, but essential nonetheless. Tying knots, reading maps, and lashing poles together are fundamental to being a true scout. We hope the activities practiced tonight will aid other projects and tasks in future meetings

Tonight was the first meeting back since half term, and on the agenda was wide game! We started the evening with capture the patrol leader, which led onto capture the flag, and finally the scattered card game.
