Well I have never spatchcocked a turkey or smoked one before so I decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and do both at the same time. Fully injected with garlic butter and will season the outside later & soon it will hit the smoker for a couple of hours! 🤞 🤤 🦃 🐇

By far the juiciest, best tasting turkey I have ever made! Not sure why I have never done that before. Smoked it for just over 2 hrs in cherry wood then 30 min's in the oven to crisp up the skin. Real damn tasty! Very happy with the outcome & the family liked it too! 🤤 🦃 😀

2025 turkey season is underway!! Great start! Was getting dressed & a tom & hen appeared in the same small field. Made my way to the blind & within 10 minutes had a gobbling, strutting tom at 200 yds. He is still there but he won't come & visit (yet). Damn I love this!! 🦃 🦃

This was a first for me! Mama Bear made pizza dough & I didn't want chicken or pepperoni or sausage so I decided to take out the partridge breasts I had in the freezer as my meat for something different. Jalapeno/Havarti shredded cheese, fresh jalapeno's and tomato! Damn good 🤤

Some pretty cool clouds here this evening after all of the thunderstorms had passed by. Nature rarely disappoints!

First time out since opening morning! Just set up and settled in to the blind for a 5 or 6 hr sit, hopefully less! Absolutely beautiful day. Surrounded by songbirds & sunlight! Doesn't get any better than this!! 🦃🤞🦃

Well after 3 hrs in the blind, I decided to sit a treeline separating 2 fields with a single hen decoy. My first call had a gobble back immediately! Shortly after 2 big red heads & 5 hens walked out but no way I could coax one of them away. I had to work so I left them! 🤬🤣😭

Well here we are again! Been here an hour & 4 gobbles from 3 different locations but the wind is blowing a gale & coaxing them out of the cedars may be tough. It is gusting up to 36 mph but I am somewhat sheltered in this field corner. So now we wait & hope!! 🤞🦃🤞🦃

There is no better place to enjoy a morning coffee!! Daybreak on a farm is simply the best! Back in the blind for a rare daybreak hunt. Hoping a nice gobbler comes by to say hello and if not that's ok too!! 🤞 🦃 🤞 🦃

Turkeys are evil. 🤬 Had one that came to 60 yds but would not cross over from the neighbors farm. Then these 2 were coming in on a string & when they went to cross the fence a ground hog came out of his burrow and scared the lead bird and they completely changed direction 🤬

27 degrees Celsius today which is too hot to hunt so ran out & moved the blind 220 yds to a new spot. This will be my home for most of the next 2 days & 3 or 4 days next week. Haven't had much time to hunt this year. Only 4 trips afield so far. Hoping to fill at least 1 tag 🦃 🤞

A literal concert around me! This makes the early alarm well worth it! The oriole lit on a branch 5 ft from the side window of the blind and they are an absolutely stunning bird!! Now let's hope I can add a nice gobbler to the list of birds serenading me!! 🦃🤞🦃

Attempt #6 to tag the evil bird!! Late arrival this morning but I have shot 98% of my birds here between 10 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. Single hen decoy setup today. Simple & effective in the late season! Now we wait & hope & listen to the songbirds. 10 a.m. & already 25 degrees celsius 🥵

I had zero faith in where I set up the blind 2 days ago so I just moved it back to where I shot the 2 toms last spring. Its dried out enough here now that I can hunt this area. About 65 yds to the left of the blind is where the hens come to take dust baths every day!! 🤞🦃🤞🦃

It's a cold day in the turkey blind. Was -2 celsius overnight and pretty chilly & windy out here now. Just arrived. 2 hen decoy setup today & using my white decoy for fun & something different. I am determined to shoot a turkey with it. 7 hrs until legal shooting ends!🤞🦃🤞🦃

The stars aligned this morning & this joker read the script & came in on a string with his buddy, gobbling & fanning the whole way. There is nothing better in hunting than that in my opinion! Nothing gets my blood pumping every year more than a a spring gobbler! A perfect ending!

Great day in the boat with my son! First trip of the summer! Come fishing with me & you too can catch giant fat pike & jumbo perch like this! That's right Big D Outdoors you're not the only pike whisperer!! 🤣 🎣 🤘
