King: This will empower the court to ensure the safety of our children so that we don't make it easy for the next one.

The Covenant families' lawyer is now up. His name is Eric Osborne.

Osborne: Everyone who is not media is part of The Covenant families today. Thank you for letting us be heard. The parents are truly grateful to be here today. We had intense opposition to even be able to make our arguments.

Osborne: We will talk about three legal issues that the shooter's writings not be released. We will focus on copyright and the Victims' Right Amendment.

Osborne: The Covenant School children fled a violent attack at their school. Today is their first full day back at the school. This case is all about safety and safety for the children. This is indeed safety for all children everywhere.

Osborne: We said that our hope is the word Covenant will conjure something different. There's never been a case like this in American history and we have the ability to tell the story of survivors and stop a shooter's writings from being released and celebration of violence.

Osborne: We want the word Covenant to have a different meaning in American history. We have said that we want Metro's police record to be released. As the parents on these writings, not to come out.

Osborne: We don't want any media released from the shooter. If the shooter created it, it should not be released. None of that should be released.

He acknowledges that he and Metro are taking different paths.

Reasons for anything (any media + writings) from The Covenant School shooter *not* to be released:

1) school safety
2) copyright
3) the Victims' Rights Act

Osborne: If the release if these writings will threaten this children and inspire copycats, then I could say they will harass and intimidate children.

He's arguing to the Victims' Rights Act.

We are now talking about copyright and who OWNS the shooter's documents.

Right now, the documents when police are done with and returned will go to The Covenant Children's Trust. The shooter's documents and belongings transferred is now complete.
