I still can’t get over how bad the climate change section of the debate was last night. This is the consequence of no climate questions in debates for years. The questions were childish, no follow-up questions for basic information, & there was almost no talk of solutions.

The effect on Black Civil War veterans of the Sup Ct's 1883 repeal of protections against discrimination in public accommodations--such a labor of love w Emily West. Open access until end of November: cambridge.org/core/journals/… Thx Paul Kellstedt for the tough but fair editing--

How did Latino voting patterns change in 2020? In a new working paper, Bernard L. Fraga, @emwest07, and I find that increases in relative Trump support were most pronounced among conservative, low SES, and 1st gen U.S-born Latinos.

Thanks to Matt Grossmann for having me on to talk about a bunch of my research and research by some of the people I love to read, e.g. Drew Engelhardt. It was a lot of fun!

More data from our (me, Yphtach Lelkes and shanto iyengar) lab: Both parties reject political violence. 9,000 interviews over five weeks show that support for political violence is consistently less than the margin of error.

Three surprising results on support for democratic norm violations from our lab (w/ Yphtach Lelkes) Democrats support anti-democratic behavior at levels that are similar to (or exceed) Republicans. Surprisingly, about 8% of Democrats want to reducing voting options for Republicans.

What a pleasure advising such a stellar student, who is now an innovative scholar contributing to our understanding of attitudes towards globalization. Congratulations!🍾 Alex Honeker

Our paper on Latino voting in 2020 (and beyond) is now forthcoming at the American Political Science Review. Pre-publication draft available here: bit.ly/4a44mgQ
