I second this opinion. It has beautiful writing, epic storylines, and one of the best romances in all of literature. It’s not boring and would only be hard to read if your brain is fried from excessive screen time (most of us, to be honest).

Observations on Luke 10: - following God’s commands stems from loving Him. - the lawyer knew the law but didn’t understand the meaning of “love your neighbor.” - Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, a position that disciples would take before a rabbi - we should seek God instead of anxiety

Yes. Heavily. I have like a 7-step process just to get to the first draft. That being said, I have made the executive decision to ditch the outline because it didn't feel right. It's like leaving the main road for a side trail you hope is a shortcut to get to the destination.

Yes. He proved himself the hero by sacrificing his life for the Hobbits and ultimately accepting Aragorn as king. All people have their faults and, to be fair, he was motivated by protecting his home, which isn't the worst motive to take the ring.

Homemade pasta with butternut squash and turkey meat sauce. Braised kale with bacon and apples. And an apple pie, fifth one made this season, for dessert! Definitely an autumn-themed meal!

Cool, but I'd rather live in Ithilien. Minas Tirith is gorgeous, but it's still a city and it's nicer to have room to roam and garden.

Well, I've finally got a title for my mythopoeic Snow White retelling: Blood and Snow and Ebony. Has a rather eerie ring to it, but that's the point. Grimm tales are always quite grim.

I've found kids adore stories where the children push the witch into the oven, or where the giant's head gets cut off, and yet adults seem to think they're too "scary" or "disturbing." It's hilarious.

Writers: what is your villain's ONE good quality? Queen Gerlinde...isn't lazy. That's about the only good comment I could make about her.

I have a cute dog in my book who is enchanted to make everyone around him instantly happy, and he was only supposed to be in one scene, but my friend/editor liked him so much that now I've named him and I suppose he has to get a few more scenes.

My biggest pet peeve with YA novels is the female MC being gorgeous and the male MC being handsome. Where are our average folks? Unfortunately, I can't make my female MC plain, as it's a Snow White retelling. Therefore, the prince will just have to be normal looking lol.

I'd like to say I would, but I also recognize my strong desire to sit in a hobbit-hole reading books and drinking tea. I think Gandalf would probably have had to drag me on the adventure too. MAYBE I'd have made it as far as Rivendell before I quit.

Mostly not. It lacks beauty, it's too gory, and the Galadriel/Sauron shipping was cheap. The only redeeming parts were the friendships between Nori and Poppy and Elrond and Durin. Few characters were admirable (exceptions being Elendil and fam, the dwarves, and Arondir).

Jane Eyre's Helen Burns is the sort of role model every young girl ought to have: kind, selfless, knowledgeable of her own faults, and yet remarkably firm in gently correcting her friend.

Would you rather be a character in a Jane Austen novel or in a Brontë sisters novel? I feel like this should be a no-brainer since Austen is more likely to give you a happy ending (unless you're Caroline Bingley).
