In East London, we have some of the highest rates of child poverty in the UK. I will be voting to scrap the two child benefit cap today. x.com/ApsanaBegumMP/…

I voted against the two-child benefit cap which has contributed to rising and deepening levels of child poverty and food insecurity for many East End families. I have now been informed that I have had the whip withdrawn.

Me and my 4 siblings relied on child tax credits growing up. My dad worked at the Vauxhall factory and later as a taxi driver but he suffered 3 heart attacks and a brain haemorrhage which impacted his ability to work. If the two-child limit was in place, we would suffer severely.

Many young trans people and their families are hugely concerned about the puberty blockers ban. Criticisms of the Cass review aside, this policy goes far beyond its recommendations. At #PMQs, I asked the government to meet with those affected to understand its impact.

In 1997 47 Labour rebels voted for a Lib Dem amendment to stop cuts to single parents’ welfare No one was suspended. There were no expulsions Blair’s Labour Party was far more tolerant of dissent. Starmer’s authoritarianism is troubling

Blood stocks have dropped to "unprecedentedly low" levels in England this month. Currently there are only 1.6 days worth of stocks in reserve – well below the six day target. It's really easy to donate. Go to blood.co.uk or call 0300 123 23 23.

when we were convicted after breaking into stansted we genuinely believed we might go to prison but, thanks to a big campaign avoided it + instead spent 100 hours in charity shop. 5 years on people being sent to jail for throwing a bit of soup on glass. stark + bleak escalation.

Yes it has. And that’s why we shouldn’t trust any lawyer who doesn’t know the basics about racist policing in this country.

TW*** If someone fucking steals some bread and does his time I think that’s alright to let him compete in the olympics years later, if someone rapes a fucking child they shouldn’t be allowed to work in a fucking chip shop let alone become a ‘role model’ for children and compete.

Medicine is so hierarchical- as trainees the person you report problems to is often someone you need to keep inside (eg the only one who can sign you off as competent for a post). I’ll bet this represents a small part of a bigger problem… theguardian.com/society/articl…
