Next we have Emma Louise Thompson talking about the role jewellery plays in adorning, constructing, and idealising bodies in life and death, using evidence from Danish Viking Age burials. (Photo: National Museum of Denmark).

Dr Marianne Hem Eriksen Kate Evetts 🍂 School of Archaeology & Ancient History In the session, Emma Louise Thompson also gave a paper on pillows in Danish Viking Age graves. This looked at the materiality of different pillows in these mortuary settings, but also argued that the act of pillowing is as important to consider as the objects themselves. 🪶🛏🪦
